If you’ve ever written a proposal, you know it’s a team effort. This workshop series is designed for teams of two to four colleagues from the same organization to learn and work together. Unlike other courses, this series can help staffers from across the organization – in fundraising, finance, administration, and program –understand the parts of the proposal, their role in creating it, and how to collaborate to secure grants.

Come prepared to roll up your sleeves. Teams should bring with them the project or program concept that they will focus on throughout the series. Participant teams should also have an identified, upcoming funding opportunity for which they are planning to submit a proposal. The guidelines for this funding opportunity will frame the work done in this series.

In the second half of the series, you’ll have the opportunity to receive feedback from grantmakers on a draft of your proposal.

Registration is for the entire series (two workshops).

Advanced Proposal Writing: Planning Your Project
Date:    Thursday, March 23, 2017
Time:    9am-4pm
Place:    Forefront Large Conference Room, 208 S. LaSalle, Suite 1535

This course takes you from concept to a project plan, with an eye toward positioning the work for funding. Participants will learn how to present their project within the larger context of their organization’s mission and the needs being addressed.  After this full day of planning and learning, teams will go back to their organizations prepared to write a strong draft proposal that will be reviewed by experts and peers prior to the second workshop.

Advanced Proposal Writing: Reviewing Your Proposal
Date:    Thursday, May 4, 2017
Time:    9am-4pm
Place:    Forefront Large Conference Room, 208 S. LaSalle, Suite 1535

In this second session, teams will review the proposals that they have drafted based on knowledge gained from the first session. Participants will take a deep dive into their draft proposals to refine them into truly exceptional proposals that can also serve as blueprints for future funding requests. This course offers a unique opportunity to ask questions and get feedback from the instructor, peers, and foundation program officers. In advance of this session, teams will have submitted a draft proposal and received written feedback from actual grantmaking program officers.

Your instructor for these workshops will be Deb Hass.

Registration for the Advanced Proposal Writing series includes both workshops and is priced on a per-team basis, not an individual basis. Only one member of the team should register online. After payment is processed, you’ll receive instructions on how to register other team members. Teams may consist of up to 4 representatives from the same organization.

Cost: $600/per team | $450/per team for Members
