In our work with young people, we can serve as powerful models for social and emotional competence, especially in situations when we’re feeling heated. In this workshop, we’ll explore how choosing the right time and tone to address student behaviors can prevent escalating conflict in and out of the classroom. You’ll leave with strategies to depersonalize interactions with students by contextualizing impulsive behaviors within a trauma framework. As you learn to ‘choose your battles,’ you will also practice de-escalating conflicts by speaking to young people in a way that inspires rigor rather than fear.

Please join us for coffee and networking at 8:15am, and then engage in an interactive and meaningful session with colleagues from across the region! Registration will remain open until Friday, September 15th. Space is limited, so please register soon at bit.ly/UmojaPD

If you have questions, please email pd@umojacorporation.org.

*IL educators can receive 3 CPDUs for this session.
