Please join your colleagues for the following Partners Addressing Poverty and Partners to End Domestic Violence Forefront Member Networks program.

Domestic violence is a leading cause of homelessness for women and children. With a dearth of affordable housing options in Chicago and just 170 emergency shelter beds designated for domestic violence survivors in the city, locating safe and stable housing for this population is an ongoing challenge. This session will explore the scale of the existing need for housing among domestic violence survivors, describe some innovative new shelters and housing plans, and explore how providers and funders can work together to better address the need.

The panel will feature experts from Chicago and Washington State in the fields of shelter provision, research, advocacy, and philanthropy who will share the latest research and successful housing models for survivors of domestic violence, as well as lessons from a DV Housing First pilot project supported by the Gates Foundation.

Panel:

–          LaTonya Walker, Senior Director of Program Services, WINGS
–          Neha Gill, Executive Director, Apna Ghar
–          Mary O’Brien, Senior Research Associate, Heartland Alliance Social IMPACT Research Center
–          Linda Olsen, Domestic Violence Housing First, Washington State Coalition Against DV
