What does the latest research tell us about Chicago charter high schools? Researchers from the University of Chicago Consortium on School Research will discuss findings from a forthcoming study that examines three aspects of charter high schools in CPS. First, the study examines who enrolls in charter high schools and how their background characteristics compare to students who enroll in non-charter high schools. Second, it compares charter school students to similar students who enroll in non-charter schools on a range of outcomes including school transfers, non-cognitive skills, attendance, test scores, high school graduation and post-secondary experiences. Lastly, it looks at charter schools’ organizational climate, policies, and practices.
